The Qualiporti project

QUALIPORTI is a simple project that falls under priority axis 2 – protection and enhancement of natural and cultural resources and risk management aimed at the development of action plans and the implementation of pilot actions, intended for the treatment of waste and sewage in ports.

It brings together six partners including:

– The Municipality of Ajaccio (Leader)

– The Province of Livorno

– The Municipality of Portoferraio

– The Municipality of Olbia

– The Municipality of Savona

– The Autonomous Region of Sardinia

The marinas in the cross-border cooperation area are directly impacted by the pollution of wastewater discharged into their basins, all the more so when they are located in urban areas. The QUALIPORTI partnership – made up of institutions competent in the management of marinas – undertakes, through the implementation of this project, to study and analyze the waters of the targeted ports, in particular in order to precisely define the type of pollutants. present, their contents as well as their origins. The completion of this first phase will allow exchanges and transfers of good practices between partners, as part of the governance of marinas.

On the basis of these inventory, the partnership plans to:

– define the strategic orientations for the establishment of a concerted form of local governance specific to each port, as part of a participatory approach carried out locally (involvement of the various actors identified in the study phase as having an impact on water quality);

– carry out a joint action plan for the reduction and elimination of wastewater discharges.

Each partner marina also implements pilot actions, in line with the joint action plan, relying on “smart” digital systems to guarantee management and information on water quality. objective of transferability of the results of the project a system for assessing the quality of port water will also be set up, in order to identify the most effective pilot actions so that they can possibly be reproduced. Pilot actions as well as their impact on water quality will be detailed in a document which can be distributed to all ports in the cross-border area.

Total cost of the project: € 1,703,408.06

Project duration: 36 months

The QUALIPORTI project is cofinanced by the European Regional Development Fund up to 85%
